Job Description

SAS Administrator / Support Engineer III

- Seeking a senior support engineer specializing in SAS Administration.  This resource will be part of a growing team supporting SAS and a number of other applications.  The resource will provide SAS administration and production support for multiple applications in a production and development environment.  The ideal candidate has 2 - 4 years SAS administration experience on the SAS application suite as well as experience as a support engineer.

  • Provides support within predetermined and agreed upon Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) for our internal customers by trouble shooting application/environment issues with SAS and multiple other applications providing technical solutions to business user needs.
  • Provide daily administration support on the application and platform for very large scale SAS environments
  • Provides monthly report metrics on performance of supported environments, applications, and usage.
  • Provides support of applications software by providing software upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance to monitor and improve performance, and also define the security and infrastructure footprint
  • Takes personal ownership for problems-follows through to ensure that solutions meet needs.
  • Effective in solving problems in a team environment
  • Ability to participate in a 24x7 support rotation may be required.  
  • Supports application related projects
     

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Management Information Systems or equivalent work experience. Expertise in SAS architecture and system administration. Experience in large scale, multi terabyte, SAS installation

Knowledge: The ideal candidate would have thorough knowledge and understanding of application support including: SAS Software Administration activities or SAS software applications and its components (SAS 9.2 or later release experience preferred), Incident Management, and ITIL (desired). Also, familiarity with Windows, UNIX, Database technologies, and scripting are preferred.  Knowledge of ASP, .NET, HTML, and/or Java a plus.

Skills: Strong application support and software engineering/trouble-shooting experience with strong interpersonal/ communication skills.

Must be high-energy, detail-oriented and proactive with the ability to function under pressure in an independent environment.
Must provide the necessary skills to have a high degree of initiative and self-motivation with a willingness and ability to learn and take on challenging opportunities.
Strong communication skills both verbal and written with strong relationship, collaborative skills and organizational skills.
