(June 24) - SAS 9.4 Administration – How to Get SAS Hot Fixes for an Older SAS Order

SAS Software Order Email (SOE) contains the order, download manager links and SAS Download key. The SOE also contains the ship event of the order shown as:

1: The tech site number assigned to the order

2: Confirmation of the intended environment

3: Techsite number

4: Operating system for which this particular order was cut

5: This is the ship event. Read as Year 2022 week 50

6: SAS version (9.4) and Order number

The SAS hot fixes available up to the date of ship event are included in the order; in the depot downloaded using SOE.

If there is a reasonable delay or lag between depot download and the install, one may download the SAS hot fixes that may have been released since the depot download.

Steps

  1. Initialize SAS Deployment Wizard (SDW) by executing setup.sh or setup.exe in the depot
  2. On the Select Deployment Task page under Administrator Tasks, select Manage SAS Software Depot, and then click Next.
  3. On the Manage SAS Software Depot page, select Retrieve Hot Fixes, and then click Next.
  4. On the Manage SAS Software Depot page, select the order for which you want to retrieve hot fixes and click Finish.

Caution

  1. Be mindful of any 'planned' hot fixes that may have post install step for all type of installs check the DeploymentSummary.html
  2. For new installs and configuration don't forget to check the 'Warnings and Notices" section in the SAS/Config/Lev1/Documents/Instructions.htm
  3. To keep consistency once you have done the 'Retrieve Hot Fix' step, do not repeat it on other machines (in case of multiple machine topology) and use the same depot.
